Aviation Foams – The requirements and techniques for extinguishing aircraft fires are understandably high given the dangers posed to human life. Traditionally AFFF foams containing PFAS were required by authorities to be used in aircraft fires but rapid advancements in the performance of fluorine free firefighting foams has seen that begin to change. All 27 major Australian airports have now transitioned to fluorine-free foams, as have many major international airports including London’s Heathrow and Gatwick, Paris’ Charles De Gaulle and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Fluorine-free foams are also used by oil and chemical manufacturers, including BP, ExxonMobil, Statoil, BASF, AkzoNobel, Pfizer and Lilly.
VS Focum are at the forefront of the manufacture and continual development of fluorine free foams for the aviation industry. Fire Response are proud to be the sole Australian distributor of these superior concentrates. We can also supply some products of the more traditional formulation, noting that every VS Focum product containing fluorine is manufactured exclusively with C6 Fluorosurfactants (no PFOS) according to EPA 2010/2015 PFOA Stewardship Program.
