The VLITEX Fire Blanket ULTIMATE is a reusable, multi-layer fire containment blanket for open lithium-ion battery modules > 5kWh, where cells are exposed outside their original enclosure. Fire Response is the exclusive Australian distributor, supplying EV workshops, battery testing labs, recycling operations, mining and energy storage sites.
Unlike conventional vehicle fire blankets, the ULTIMATE fire blanket is engineered for demanding battery fire scenarios, helping to isolate flames, reduce smoke and toxic gas spread, lower surrounding temperatures, and limit explosion effects during battery failure events. Note: the blanket is for containment and protection. It does not stop thermal runaway and doesn’t replace suppression or isolation procedures.

The VLITEX Fire Blanket ULTIMATE is manufactured from materials that have been independently tested against recognised standards.
- High cut resistance – 18.45 N (ISO 13997:1999, tested by STFI) Helps resist damage from sharp battery casings and metal debris
- High electrical resistance 7.7 × 10¹¹ Ω (DIN 54345-1, tested by Hochschule Hof)
- Non-flammable material construction – DIN EN 13501 (MPA)

Reusable Following Inspection
Unlike some specialist fire containment products designed for single deployment, the VLITEX Fire Blanket ULTIMATE may be reused following inspection, depending on the severity of the fire event and resulting blanket condition. NOTE: Following any deployment, the blanket should be assessed before being returned to service.

No. The ULTIMATE contains flames, smoke and heat around the module, but it doesn’t stop thermal runaway or extinguish the cells. Thermal runaway can continue beneath it, so follow your site’s emergency procedures, isolate the area and contact emergency services.
Due to the size and weight of the blanket (3m x 4m, 27.6kg), deployment by at least two trained operators is recommended.
