EV Fire Blanket Premium Plus
The EV Fire Blanket Premium Plus is Vlitex’s next-generation blanket for electric vehicle and lithium-ion battery fires, built specifically for fire departments and emergency responders who deal with these incidents regularly.
Electric vehicle battery fires present unique challenges, with the potential for high temperatures, thermal runaway and fire spread to nearby vehicles or structures. The EV Fire Blanket Premium Plus has been specifically developed to help contain these incidents, assisting emergency responders and organisations that manage EV risks as part of their operations.
Two features set it apart from a standard fire blanket. A built-in gas release system – two vents in the centre of the blanket – lets hot, flammable gases escape in a controlled way instead of building up underneath, reducing the risk of a sudden flare-up when the blanket is lifted or moved. A safe-pull system lets responders cinch the blanket tight against the vehicle from a safe distance, without needing to approach the vehicle to manually tuck the edges in.
Independently tested on a live EV fire – a Tesla with a 100kWh battery pack – the blanket significantly reduced surrounding temperature and smoke within seconds of deployment.

Important note on reuse: if the blanket has been used in a fire, it must be disposed of and replaced in line with DIN SPEC 91489, even if there’s no visible damage – fire residue on the material is toxic, and certification only applies to the blanket in its original, unused condition.

The EV Fire Blanket Premium Plus helps contain lithium-ion battery incidents involving electric vehicles by reducing the spread of heat, flames, sparks and debris. This can help protect nearby vehicles, buildings and other assets while emergency response measures are implemented.
The Premium Plus incorporates a controlled gas release system and a safe-pull tightening system. Together, these features help improve containment while allowing responders to deploy and secure the blanket from a safer distance.
The blanket is ideal for fire departments, industrial emergency response teams, vehicle repair facilities, car dealerships, fleet operators, vehicle storage facilities and organisations that regularly manage electric vehicles.
If it is safe to do so, deploy the blanket over the vehicle using the manufacturer’s recommended procedures including using the circumferential cable system pull the blanket tightly against the vehicle. Once in place, leave the blanket undisturbed, keep personnel clear of the area and follow site emergency procedures while emergency services assess the incident.
