Description
ARK Flood Barriers are a reusable, water-filled barrier system manufactured in New Zealand. Supplied in 14.5-metre PVC tube sections, they are designed to be deployed quickly with minimal crew. Filled with water from any available source, they create a continuous, self-anchoring barrier that moulds firmly to the ground.
How ARK Works
Each section is a long PVC tube that, once filled, becomes extremely heavy and holds its position under flood pressure without additional fixings or ballast. Sections connect together in a modular configuration — straight runs, curves, or complete site encirclements are all achievable — making ARK adaptable to a wide variety of terrain and deployment scenarios. Barriers can be rolled out and positioned while risk is still being assessed, then filled or relocated as the situation develops.
Deployment and Reuse
When the flood threat passes, ARK sections are simply emptied, rolled up, and stored for future use. This makes ARK a significantly more cost-effective long-term investment than single-use sandbags, particularly for organisations that face recurring flood exposure. The 14.5-metre section length is intentionally sized to balance coverage with ease of handling during rapid deployment.
